– Joan Didion
A lot of times I have trouble writing scripts specifically because I feel like filmmaking has become an irrelevant act. But I love it too much to stop.

I will definitely be doing this, screw Citibank.
I will as well.
I am growing up.

Ha. I loved all of this, mild misogyny aside. I want oh_me and caragh to get married. Caragh, you game? I think he just turned 17.

I’m going to talk about this here because my therapist is out of the town and I’m feeling the need to get this out. So listen up.
This is the story of me growing up.

How many zero's in a Billion?
My Dad sent me this recently. Normally, I don’t pay too much attention to email forwards, but this one caught my attention. Kind of gives you something to think about -
How many zeros in a billion? This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR...

Last night I dreamt that you discovered your own mortality, and I held you, crying, on the floor.

Sitting here watching Aliens, because its one of those really great decompression movies. If I ever have another female cat, I’m going to name her Ripley.
Going to Phoenix tomorrow to visit Amethyst and Sam. Really looking forward to it. Need some time out of LA to put my head back together. Four day weekend this week, and four day weekend next… Gonna start getting used to this…
Short Timer
Gnashing apologies against cracking teeth lighting them up to show you the bad will burn and leave nothing but forgiveness and blistered, bleeding, black gums coatings and skin, sheered off flames passing lips as I whisper sorry’s and excuses all those forgettable things that are wracking nerves and flooding sinuses flames hitting back at ears melting lobes and cartilage before I even hear ...

For my grad school cinematography course midterm, I had to make a 30 second commercial on 35mm. I didn’t want to waste the 35mm film, so I made a short short. Here it is. You can see the 30 second cut here.
Shot on the Arri 35 III with Zeiss prime lenses on KODAK 35mm 5207 VISION 3 stock 250D.
Karen is awesome! I always love seeing her stuff.

I’ve always liked the way Jake experiments with light and motion (specifically dance).
The Grownup's Card
Shawn Morrison: There's something about having an American Express Card that makes me feel like an adult.
Shawn Morrison: Probably all the porn I'm buying with it.
Me: Yeah, Amex is great for pornography.
Me: And I agree, it is the grownup's card.
Me: My Amex biz card says "Platinum" on it and has a picture of Gladiator's head, so it's extra manly and grown up.
Shawn Morrison: Oh man, I need to upgrade to that one.
Shawn Morrison: Mine has a picture of classy hobo.
Me: We all have to start somewhere, you know?
Me: I was once a hobo, just like you.
Me: Classy, sure, but a hobo.
Shawn Morrison: Listen, this burlap spots jacket and mismatched bowtie is working just fine for me thank you very much.
Shawn Morrison: *sports
Shawn Morrison: (dammit)
Me: What a classic hobo typo.
Shawn Morrison: It's these damn cat-fur mittens.

When I was in high school, I thought “What could be cooler than making films with your friends, and seeing them in the theater?”, so I decided to go to film school. In film school, I somehow made the decision that I wanted to get paid for my work....
why i love being a writer
I actually hate writing, but I want to bring my ideas to the screen, and since I can’t afford to hire someone to write stuff for me, I do it myself. Anyways, I was writing a scene for a script I’m working on, and its the final scene between the main character, Tuck, and the girl he’s totally in love with, Morgan, in which she tells him that she’s marrying a guy she met...

– Justine Bateman - I strenuously agree with this. More on this subject soon. (via atencio)
This is so true. I hate how “no budget” has somehow become a point of pride now days. I understand people in the industry having to do things for no budget to break in and get noticed, but this is...
